Two Aventadors duke it out on a ¼-mile drag strip

The Lamborghini Aventador has been in production for nearly a decade now and has received quite a few special editions throughout its life. YouTuber 888MF decided to find out just how efficient these special editions are on a drag strip, so he arranged a race.

The yellow car is an Aventador LP 750-4 SV, a.k.a. Superveloce. In production in 2015-2017, it comes based on the Aventador LP700-4 but is lighter and exerts 170% more downforce than its production counterpart. It also has its engine boosted to 750 hp (559 kW) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque.

The black one is the latest Aventador SVJ (Superveloce Jota), which uses the Aventador S spec as a starting point. It packs 770 hp (574 kW), 720 Nm (531 lb-ft), four-wheel steering, and the second-gen aero kit called Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA).

Both rides weighs in at 1,525 kilos (3,362 lbs), need mere 2.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill, and max out above 350 km/h (217 mph). Watch the video or read on for spoilers on who came first.

The “older” and “weaker” yellow Lambo goes shoulder-to-shoulder with its fancy rival for most of the race, but finally pulls ahead towards the end and emerges victorious.

This is not to say that the latest Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is inferior. A couple years ago, it set the absolute production car record on the Nürburgring by running a lap in 6 minutes 44.97 seconds. Back in its time, the Aventador SV managed the same in 6 minutes 59.73 seconds.
