New BMW 2 Series Coupe spied underway to road tests in Mexico

The upcoming G42 BMW 2 Series had already been partially revealed on photos allegedly leaked from the factory, but today, a carefully wrapped example was sighted in Mexico.

Despite the seemingly impervious camo, it is obvious that the 2 Series remains rear-axle driven. It also makes do without the huge controversial “nostril grille” that attracted a truckload of criticism when it debuted on the new 4 Series.

The coupe will enter production in the San Luis Potosí factory, Mexico, which employs around 2,500 people and churns out up to 175,000 vehicles per year.

The premiere of the G42 lineup will likely happen next year.
