Lamborghini SCV12 sheds camo at last

Since the announcement of the Lamborghini SCV12 racer last fall, we’ve been looking at numerous patent images and spy photos, but never the final production car. This changes today with Lambo’s latest and greatest supercar revealed on its official page.

The vehicle has been designed by the Squadra Corse subdivision specifically for racetrack use. As such, it is not restricted by the common road safety requirements and lacks even such essential elements as headlights (these are replaced with LED lights built into the front bumper).

The photo also reveals wide rear fenders, a massive rear wing, a front splitter, the lowest possible clearance and so on. The aerodynamic kit it packs should produce more downforce than that of the GT3 Series racer, Lambo claims.

The supercar is extremely light, most likely thanks to its carbon chassis and magnesium-alloy wheels. The 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 under the hood produces circa 830 hp (619 kW) and links to a six-speed sequential transmission.

The launch date, pricing and availability of the Lamborghini SCV12 remain unannounced, but the appearance of the photo suggests that the reveal will take place soon.
