Oldsmobile Cutlass Mk3 becomes an 800HP restomod
The production history of the stylish and original GMC Oldsmobile Cutlass spans 32 years, and the third generation (1968–72) is often praised for the best looks. This restored specimen by Schwartz Performance is one of those cars.
The U.S. tuner threw away the worn and antiquated stock engine, replacing it with an LSA V8 crate engine normally rated at 564 hp (421 kW) and 747 Nm (551 lb-ft) of torque. After installing a nitrous oxide system and other mods, the team raised the output to 800 hp (596 kW). Then they partnered the mill up with a Tremec T56 Magnum transmission featuring custom stainless-steel distribution shafts and a TrueTrac differential.
The next biggest upgrade is the chassis, which has been created from scratch for the project. The list goes on to mention Ridetech springs and BAER brakes with six-piston calipers on the front axle. Sleek Forgeline GT3C 18” rims round off the impressive exterior.
Luxury abounds inside, with plenty of black leather used throughout, occasional natural wood inserts, an aluminum steering wheel, and retro-themed instruments.
Schwartz Performance never revealed the cost of the restoration.
