Hongqi E-HS9 debuts on official terms

Hongqi has finally revealed the E-HS9, its first deluxe SUV based on the E115 Concept. Sales should start before the year end.

The newcomer sports redesigned headlights and a giant radiator grille heavily inspired by Rolls-Royce. The vertical ornamental inserts on the front fenders and doors are gone, replaced with different-looking horizontal inserts in the production model. The rear end stays true to its concept version.

Further notable features include slide-out handles, bi-color body, wheels measuring 21 and 22 inches across, and opulent cabin (not revealed yet). Judging by the only spy photo of the cabin currently available, there will be plenty of digital screens, including the dashboard, the HVAC, the climate controls, a multimedia display for the front passenger, and two more displays for the rear seat occupants.

The Hongqi E-HS9 will emerge in two AWD specs. The base spec offers dual engines rated at 218 hp (163 kW) each. The performance spec keeps one 218-hp motor while the other one gets replaced with a superior 333-hp (264-kW) one.

The car hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in under four seconds and has 500 km (310 miles) of nominal driving range.
