Porsche ex-designer patents a supercar in Japan

Pinky Lai – a former designer of iconic Porsche vehicles – has successfully applied for patent rights for his own supercar design in Japan. The sketches revealed to the public only reveal the general concept without fine details or specs.

Pinky Lai moved from Hong Kong to Italy in 1972 to graduate as an industrial designer there. He initially worked at Ford Germany, having designed the Sierra model, and later moved to Porsche. He continued to have a long and fruitful cooperation with the sports car maker, conceptualizing and designing such cars as the Boxster, the Cayman and the 911.996 (see video).

In a recent interview, the designer said he was working on a unique electric vehicle that will “eclipse modern supercars”.
