RMG working on a hydrogen SUV

U.S.-based automaker Ronn Motor Group (RMG for short) has announced Myst, a hydrogen cell-powered crossover SUV. The car will enter production in China in 2022, the manufacturer claims.

This is not the first time RMG makes a big announcement in the past decade, however, the only project they have actually shown to the world was the Scorpion Concept in 2009 (see video for details). Soon after revealing the hydrogen vehicle, the company wrapped up further development. A Mk2 Scorpion was conceived in 2015 and soon renamed to Phoenix – perhaps to symbolize the revival of the hydrogen car idea – but it likewise hasn’t made it into production yet. On paper, the Phoenix could cover 350 miles (563 kilometers) on a fully charged electric battery; topping up the hydrogen tank would increase the range to 600 miles (865 km).

The Myst Concept shown under the drapes here comes based on a brand-new flexible vehicle architecture called Q-Series. The outlines still remind of the Scorpion, and RMG promises a spacious interior, superior safety and comfort, as well as plenty of innovative tech. The latter refers to the use of graphene in the fuel cells, among other things, although no further details are provided.
