BMW iNext becomes iX, gets three electric versions

The BMW iNext Concept unveiled two years ago (see video) will ultimately enter production as the BMW iX, the manufacturer reports along with some other details.

For one, the crossover will ship with three powertrain options to choose from: entry-level (313 hp / 233 kW), mid-spec (530 hp / 395 kW) and top-spec (620 hp / 462 kW). One of these versions will offer up to 600 kilometers (373 miles) of driving range, but which one remains unexplained. Other ranges are unannounced.

Customers will be able to opt for wheel sizes between 20 and 22 inches, a pro-grade audio system, automatic doors and air suspension.

Perhaps the most interesting feature that BMW claims will be making it into production is called Natural Interaction, which essentially lets you turn any surface into an interactive display.

The BMW iX is slated to premiere before the end of the year.
