C8 Corvette might get an electric AWD version

The eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette has already experienced something like a revolution when it switched to the mid-engine layout; now it looks like the iconic sports car will be getting an all-wheel drive system thanks to dual electric motors on the front axle.

The revelation was hidden in the manual the car ships with: there are clear mentions of an all-electric rive mode. An inside source has already reacted to the news, reporting that the supercar is called Grand Sport and should arrive in three years’ time.

Interestingly enough, the manufacturer refers to the dual electric motors simply as “eAWD”, as if neglecting to use the word hybrid. No details or specs are provided, but everything looks like the part-electric ‘Vette would prioritize performance over environmental concerns any day.

One theory holds that the car will ship with the same old 6.2-liter non-turbo V8, but the electric add-on will boost its total output to 600 hp (447 kW).
