3rd-gen Honda HR-V discovered testing on the streets

Honda resurrected its HR-V compact SUV six years ago and has been selling it under various localized names in the United States, Europe and China since then. Today, a third-generation test vehicle was spotted somewhere in Japan.

It looks like the car changes its style heading into next year. It seems differently proportioned with broader sides and lower roof, a more slanted rear glass and side mirrors mounted on doors, rather than the triangular windows like before. The concealed rear door handles are perhaps the main thing that still reminds us of the old HR-V.

No technical details are available so far. In all likelihood, the updated SUV will offer a choice between a traditional gasoline turbo engine and an i-MMD series hybrid powertrain. The premiere will likely only take place next year.
