Hyundai considering a body-on-frame SUV

Lorenz Glaab, VP at Hyundai Motor Group, let it slip in an interview that the company was looking into making a serious off-road vehicle to surpass the Palisade in terms of pure maneuverability.

The alleged full-size, body-on-frame SUV goes without a name or specs, but theories have already sprouted as to what it might be called. Maybe the “Pavise” trademark the company registered not long ago is it, or maybe Hyundai will be reviving the “Terracan” name – we probably won’t know until the official reveal.

Frame-based off-road cars still enjoy brisk sales to this day. General Motors Group alone sold around 250,000 SUVs in 2019 – mostly Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade. The Korean newcomer might as well be a welcome addition to the lineup.
