Daimler AG reveals Mercedes-Benz S-Class pricing

The German automotive giant has disclosed the recommended retail prices for its new W223 S-Class lineup.

Starting from just €94,500 for the short-wheelbase, rear-wheel drive S 350 d spec, the flagship saloon turned out not much more expensive than its peers from other manufacturers. Long wheelbase can be had for an extra €3,500, and shipments should begin before 2020 ends.

All initial Mercedes-Benz S-Class batches will come equipped with six-cylinder engines. The new 2.9-liter OM656 diesel mill can churn out up to 286 hp (213 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. Regardless of the wheelbase length, customers can stay with rear-wheel drive or opt for AWD.

The Mercedes-Benz S 400 d 4Matic spices things up with all-wheel-drive, 330 hp (246 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). It starts from €108,600. Should you want your luxury saloon to burn gas instead of heavy fuel, the €119,400 S 500 4Matic spec might be for you (435 hp / 324 kW).

The superior S 450 4Matic will arrive in October packing a 3.0-liter V8 good for 367 hp (274 kW). The price has not been announced yet.
