This old-school Alfa Romeo is actually a modern Ferari in disguise

Milan-based coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera premiered its Berlinetta Aero Concept this spring and is showing us the final version called the Touring Superleggera Aero 3 today. The vehicle may look like several classic Alfa Romeos mashed together, but it is a Ferrari at heart.

The company never explicitly states the fact, but there is no mistaking the shape of the Ferrari F12 produced in 2012 – 2017. The exterior leans towards the vintage 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B LM Coupe Berlinetta Aerodinamica, which took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans under number 19. Other influences include the 6C 2500 of the late 1930s and the Disco Volante of the 1950s.

Powering the custom build is a 6.3-liter Ferrari V12 rated at 740 hp (552 kW) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft), which corresponds to the F12 specs before the 2015 facelift. A seven-speed semi-auto transmission sends the momentum to the rear axle, and the car needs the same 3.1s as the donor vehicle to get from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph). The top speed lies at 340 km/h (211 mph), but the new carbon body makes the Touring Aero 3 nearly 150 kilograms (330 pounds) lighter than its 1,791-kg (3,950-lbs) predecessor.

The coachbuilt replica is 4,785 mm (15.7 feet) long, 1,951 mm (6.4 ft.) wide and 1,280 mm (4.2 ft.) tall with 2,713 mm (8.9 ft.) between the axles. The tires measure 255/35 ZR20 and the front and 315/35 ZR20 at the rear.

Covering the body is a Stratosphere Red livery that pays homage to the Disco Volante model, and there is no missing the massive tail fin that displays the deviation angle of the active spoiler. Foglizzo leather dominates the cabin with aluminum and carbon fiber décor throughout.

The Carrozzeria Touring Aero 3 has been properly certified according to all EU standards for small-batch production cars. The tuner will be producing 15 units, and prices are only available upon special request.

On a side note, this isn’t the first custom car built by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera with the Ferrari F12 at base: that honor belongs to the F12berlinetta Lusso by Touring from five years ago.
