McLaren launches a 3D car configurator for the Elva

Introducing its Elva hypercar last November, McLaren said the production quantity would be kept down to 399 units. The number went down to 249 this spring and now dropped once again to just 149 units due to the ongoing coronavirus disruption. This caused the collector’s value of the car to soar, and as the newly launched 3D configurator clearly demonstrates, buyers can do much to make their vehicle unique.

The McLaren Advanced Visualizer produces highly realistic 3D models running on a video game engine. There are two color palettes to choose from: Explore (vivid) and Timeless (restrained/classical). The former is said to convey “the spirit of adventure”, whereas the latter pays homage to the marque’s extensive legacy. The Elva itself draws upon history, being partially inspired by the original McLaren-Elva dating back to the 1960s.

At just 149 units in production, the Elva is McLaren’s second rarest vehicle on offer after the 106-unit Speedtail. As such, it commands a formidable price tag of £1,425,000.

The car is part of the Ultimate Series along with the Senna, the abovementioned Speedtail and the discontinued P1. It features original chassis and bodywork and runs on the 4.0-liter Senna V8 mill boosted to deliver 815 PS (804 hp / 600 kW). Hitting 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill is a matter of less than three seconds.
