Skoda to design the next VW Passat

Škoda, which is part of the Volkswagen Group, has been tasked with developing the next-gen Volkswagen Passat. The new iteration of the model should raise the premium plank even higher while preserving its signature style traits.

The car will be based on the MQB unitized platform and closely related to the Skoda Superb in terms of equipment and tech.

Unconfirmed sources are also reporting that a new Passat liftback would be coming to phase the sedan out of the lineup, while the estate/wagon and the Alltrack will remain as is.

The reimagined Passat will gain exterior improvements along with a roomier and tech-heavier interior, the companies report. Its engine palette will include traditional IC engines (gasoline and diesel), as well as hybrid ones. An all-electric variant is expected at a later date.
