Karma announces an “affordable” saloon series

Californian startup Karma Automotive will be premiering a whole family of budget-conscious sedans next year. Called the GS Series, it will incorporate a production model named GSe-6, previously known as the Revero GTE (see photos).

The latter will keep its trademark design while getting a wider range of tech features and shedding price at the same time. The regular Revero currently starts from U.S. $130,000, while the Revero GT (see the video) went up $9,800 this summer and currently retails for $144,800.

The Karma GSe-6 will boast a composite body, multiple powertrains rated up to 544 hp (406 kW), and the ability to accelerate 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.9 seconds. It will come with two battery sizes to choose from: 75 kWh for 322 km / 200 miles of range, and 100 kWh for 483 km / 300 miles. Both will support three regenerative brake modes and rapid DC charging.

Pre-orders can be made for as low as $100, and Karma says the deposit is refundable.
