2021 Hyundai i30 N announced with more power, 8-G DCT

The South Korean automaker has unveiled the facelifted i30 N. The hot hatch enters the next model year with a sizeable performance boost and a new transmission design.

Things stay stock for the entry-level Hyundai i30 N, which still relies on its 2.0-liter turbo rated at 250 hp (186 kW) and 353 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. This spec only supports manual gear switching. In contrast, the Performance spec goes up to 280 horsepower (+5) and 392 Nm of torque (+39). This one can be obtained with the same manual gearbox or a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The latter option comes with a special mode called NGS, which you can activate to ensure the maximum possible acceleration dynamics within the next 20 seconds.

The stick-shift i30 N Performance rides on 19-inch wheels, benefits from a diff lock and hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds.

Sales in Europe will begin in early 2021.
