Hi-end Peugeot hybrids hit assembly lines, available from mid-October

Peugeot let it slip back in February 2019 that it wanted to become the maker of performance-oriented hybrid cars. After showing us the conceptual 508 Puegeot Sport Engineered Hybrid, the company is now putting it into mass production – in two body styles, no less!

Both the liftback and the wagon come powered by dual electric motors and a single gasoline engine. Both can exert up to 360 hp (268 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque. The powertrain has five selectable modes: 4WD, Sport, Hybrid, Comfort, and Electric, the latter unlocking up to 42 kilometers (26 miles) of zero-emission driving.

Both cars can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in 5.2 seconds and max out at 250 km/h (155 mph).

Pre-orders in Europe start in mid-October.
