Jeep celebrates 80 years in business with a slew of special editions

Carmaker Jeep will be celebrating its 80th anniversary next year. To make sure it does not go unnoticed, the company will be releasing limited series of its Gladiator truck, three crossovers (Cherokee, Compass and Renegade) and two SUVs (Grand Cherokee and Wrangler).

All six models will ship with wheels finished in Granite Crystal, commemorative plaques inside the cabin, black seats and mats with grey stitching, and an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system with sat-nav and Android Auto / Apple CarPlay support.

Interestingly enough, the anniversary models differ from each other in a variety of ways. For one, the Gladiator and the Wrangler ship with 18-inch wheels, the Cherokee, Compass and Renegade with 19-inch ones, and the Grand Cherokee with 20-inch ones. Furthermore, only the compact-sized crossovers gain Gun Metal Grey inlays and black ceiling. Trim specs are also different: the Gladiator, Renegade and Wrangler are quite modestly trimmed, while the others get leather upholstery and power seats. The Grand Cherokee is the only one coming with a set of safety assists.

Sales will begin in the fourth quarter of the year, but pre-orders are already running. The Jeep Renegade 80th Anniversary Edition is the most affordable of the bunch at U.S. $27,595. The Compass will set you back $29,695, the Cherokee $33,805 and the Wrangler $35,990 or more. The birthday-themed Gladiator truck would be $41,740 or above that, and the Grand Cherokee starts from $44,335.
