Could this Fiat be the marque’s most expensive passenger vehicle ever?

RM Sotheby’s will be holding an auction on Friday, October 23 dedicated, among other things, to this ultra-rare Fiat 8V coupe. The 67-year-old ride premiered at the 1952 Geneva International Motor Show to win the Surprise of the Year award thanks to its unique styling and powerful V8.

A total of 114 units was produced, and the example on sale enters the short list of fifteen Supersonic vehicles designed by Giovanni Savonuzzi. Furthermore, each of the Supersonic vehicles had its own styling cues, making it completely unique.

In an interesting side note, Henry Lauve, one of the designers behind the Chevrolet Corvette, was the original owner of this 8V.

The unique sports car is expected to fetch between 1.75 and 2.2 million USD at the auction, which would make it Fiat’s single most expensive production vehicle in history.
