DIY: James Glickenhaus suggests you assemble your own buggy

The CEO of Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) has shared some pics of an upcoming sports buggy called the SCG 008 along with some interesting details.

The 008 looks a bit like a hybrid between the 004 model (see video) and the Boot ATV. It started life as a 3D rendered sketch that the company showed us this spring and was later confirmed into production.

The two new schematics depict the SCG 008 with its suspension in the topmost and lowermost positions. According to earlier statements, the car will get a General Motors EcoTec engine with 2.2 liters of displacement and around 150 hp (112 kW). A transaxle Sadev transmission will be used to convey the momentum to the wheels, and AWD will be optional.

The car will reportedly weigh in under 635 kilograms (1,400 lbs.). Asked whether the SCG 008 might end up with an electric powertrain instead, Glickenhaus replied that it would happen no sooner than an electric buggy wins Baja 1000.

Interestingly enough, the company intends to sell the vehicle as a crate car kit that customers themselves will have to piece together. No engine will be provided by default. Pricing and availability remain to be announced.
