Hyundai Mistra liftback discovered on patent pics

The Hyundai Mistra debuted seven years ago as a China-only sedan. It has gone through two facelifts since the launch and will spawn a liftback version in 2021, judging by these images published by the China Ministry of Industry and Trade.

It looks like the newcomer has two-tier headlights and intricately designed brake lights. The current generation uses a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 143 PS (141 hp / 105 kW) and 176 Nm (130 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a six-speed auto gearbox. Paying extra will get you a 1.6-liter turbo variant with 175 PS (173 hp / 129 kW) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft), as well as a seven-speed DCT.

The new generation will keep the non-turbo option, but the 1.6L turbo will make room for a new 1.5L engine good for 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW). An an-electric trim will also come out next year, packing 183 PS (180 hp / 135 kW) and up to 400 kilometers (248 miles) of NEDC-rated range.

The current-gen Mistra (see video) is 4,710 mm long, 1,820 mm wide and 1,470 mm tall. The upcoming gas-powered liftback is slightly different at 4,780 / 1,815 / 1,460 mm, respectively. The EV is 4,815 mm long and 1,470 mm tall. All three share the wheelbase length of 2,770 mm.
