Hyundai refreshes its ‘other i20’ heading into 2021

Hyundai India has opened pre-order books for the new 2021 i20 hatchback. The car differs quite a bit from the Euro-spec, sporting a different front grille pattern and headlights, as well as a chrome strip at the rear end instead of a red one.

The dimensions are still pending, but knowing the Indian market the new i20 will probably be under four meters long to be eligible for tax deductions and benefits.

The India spec also sports a very different instrument cluster composed of a tiny display with gauge stickers on it. The trim may include such paid extras as ventilated front seats, cruise control, climate control, wireless charger and sunroof.

The company promises two gasoline engines (n/a and turbocharged) and a turbo’d diesel. The non-turbo mill will ship with a manual transmission and a CVT to choose from, while the gas turbo will offer a choice between the marque’s signature “smart manual” iMT and 7-G DCT. Finally, the diesel unit will make do with manual in all cases.
