Small Biu Smart Car EV debuts in Guangzhou

Baojun has teamed up with Suning to turn its all-electric E300 Plus subcompact into an “intelligent” Small Biu Smart Car. The urban ride is said to integrate easily into smart home and IoT solutions.

The Chinese carmaker believes that smart cars will ultimately enter peoples’ lives just like the rest of intelligent tech did. To that end, the Small Biu can recognize voice commands, supports on-the-go online shopping and has other specialized services to offer.

On the outside, the model is little different from the standard E300 except for the “Biu” badge at the front end and blue accents. The original E300 (see video) is only 2,625 mm long, while its long-wheelbase Plus version stretches for 2,894 mm. Both come powered by a single electric motor rated at 54 PS (53 hp / 40 kW) and 150 Nm (110 lb-ft) of torque, linked to a battery rated close to 31 kWh. The LWD version has a marginally larger battery, but weighs a bit more as well, so in the end, both have the same 305 km (189 miles) of driving range.

The E300 starts from 64,800 Yuan, and the Biu Smart Car comes at a small 1,000-Yuan premium over it.
