In 2021, McLaren will be unveiling its next Ultimate Series hypercar – the gasoline/electric Sabre. However, camera-wielding spies have already sighted it on the street, and now, patent sketches have been revealed as well.
The vehicle looks like the Senna coupe overall, except for the unique carbon fiber body kit. The rear clip looks the least like the Senna with a different diffuser and a revamped rear wing merged with the fin on the rear engine lid. Carbon-ceramic brakes have six pistons at the front end and four in the back.
Rumors used to claim that the Sabre would ship with an improved version of the Senna 4.0-liter V8 and no electric add-ons. It is now evident that the gas engine only drives the rear axle, whereas dual electric motors sit at the front axle. The combined output is estimated at 1,150 PS (1,134 hp / 846 kW) and 1,275 Nm (940 lb-ft) of torque.
Early test vehicles are already running their courses in the United States, and the production run will be limited to just 15 units priced between 3.3 and 4.4 million USD.
