VW ID.3 sets an unusual world record

Dominic Brüner and Rainer Zietlow have spent around 65 days traveling across Germany on their Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S, visiting every corner and covering a total of 28,198 km (17,521 miles). The automaker says it is the longest single-country road trip in recorded history.

The duo started in the southernmost village of Oberstdorf and finished in the northernmost municipality of List on Sylt. They never aimed at maximizing the electric driving range and never even bothered to check whether they hit the WLTP-rated 549 kilometers (341 miles) of range per charge. The car reported burning 19 kilowatt-hours per 100 km on average.

The Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S, which packs 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW), will ship next spring.
