Renault R5 & 4 rumored coming back as EVs

Renault CEO Luca de Meo will reveal the development strategy of his company on January 14, and reports are coming in that certain iconic car names may be brought back from oblivion.

This could refer to the R5 and 4 models that used to be very popular back in the time. Both could be revived as purely electric vehicles.

No details are being provided at this point, but one could remember that the French marque showed the e-Plein Air Concept a year and a half ago (see gallery and video). It was essentially a 4 Plein Air Convertible stuffed with a Renault Twizy powertrain.

In other news, Alpine – which is part of Groupe Renault now – has reported three new EVs in the making. No further details were supplied.
