Sony Vision S EV hits the roads in Europe

When Sony unveiled its Vision S Concept last year, it did not expect the battery sedan to become so popular. The recently filmed test footage indicates that the company may indeed be interested in the project, after all.

When debuting the Vision S, Sony stressed that it had no intention to actually produce and sell the car. Instead, it was built to order as a pure design study by Magna Steyr, the same company that makes the Jaguar I-Pace and plans to produce Fisker cars, too. As it turns out, Continental and Bosch have jointed the project since its announcement as well.

Sony had originally intended to use the Vision S to test the various sensors it produced for third parties. While the original car had 33 such sensors on board, the latest revision has 40. However, abundant positive feedback from customers surprised the company and made it want to pursue the development further.

It is still a big question whether the Sony Vision S ever hits the market or not, but a Continental representative let it slip that all participants of the project want to bring it to fruition.
