Tesla Model Y spawns a third seat row, but you have to be a child to ride one
13-01-2021 13:20

Tesla has shared a video advertising a newly added $3,000 option for the Model Y, two smallish seats that can turn your SUV into a seven-seater at a number of tradeoffs.
The seats fit all Model Y trims and powertrain specs and take up virtually all of the rear trunk space. Even so, they are only really big enough for children. On the upside, each one comes with a USB-C port, a height-adjustable headrest, power adjustments, and a cup holder.
Curiously enough, you can actually fold down the second row to give the rear seat occupants more legroom – but this way you end up with a five-seater again, so the point of doing so is not clear.
