Look Who’s Back: Renault revives Model No. 5
The French carmaker intends to launch at least seven fully electric cars until 2025, and the resurrected Renault 5 unveiled today will be one of them.
The urban supermini, which is known in the United States as the Le Car, makes its comeback after leaving the assembly lines in 1996.
The vehicle shown on the images here is a prototype, rather than a concept. This means that its final production version will stay true to the retro look of its predecessor. The red pinstripe likely hints at sports car heritage, specifically the beefed-up Renault 5 GT Turbo model. Should we then anticipate a performance-boosted version? Not sure.
Renault CEO said during the reveal that it would be an electric car “priced to be affordable by many.”
