Watch an autonomous Toyota Supra drift all by itself

A group of researchers from TRI, Dynamic Design Lab and TRD has dedicated more than 12 years to developing a sophisticated autonomous driving system. This self-drifting (sic!) Supra is one of the side effects.

The innovative autopilot system digitizes the driving experience of professional stunt drivers using extremely powerful computer hardware. The actions human drivers take to avoid obstacles and drive their way out of accidents have proven useful for automated driving systems, the team reports.

Watch the video to see a Supra enter drift mode and maintain it. Note that the driver is only inside the car for safety reasons, as he can be seen not taking over any controls.
