Porsche announces yet another Taycan, could be entry spec

Porsche has shared a teaser video that promises an expansion of the Taycan model family. No specifics have been provided, but it looks like the fourth sedan may become a more affordable alternative to the existing 4S, Turbo and Turbo S models.

Customers in China can opt for the entry-level Taycan EV since last summer. It comes powered by a 79.2-kWh battery rated at 414 kilometers (257 miles) of NEDC range, as well as a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle. The wheels are hit with 408 PS (302 hp / 225 kW) at most.

Options include Performance Battery Plus, a package that cranks up the power to 476 PS (469 hp / 350 kW) and the range to 489 km (304 miles). The upgraded sedan reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds and maxes out at 230 km/h (143 miles per hour).

The entry-spec Porsche Taycan costs 888,000 Chinese Yuan (roughly $137,000 USD). For comparison, the 4S version costs 260,000 Yuan ($40,000 USD) more than that.
