Tesla patents an electromagnetic windshield wiper for the Roadster

Tesla has acquired a patent for a single windshield wiper capable of quickly removing any dirt or snow from the glass and then retracting under the hood so as not to obstruct the view.

The electromagnetic mechanism glides across the lower rim of the windshield carrying a single brush, and disappears down below when not needed. The manufacturer claims that this solution is essential to ensure aerodynamic perfection of what should become one of the world’s fastest-going topless cars.

The Tesla Roadster is expected to hit the market armed with three electric motors rated close to 1,000 hp (750 kW) and a battery rated for 1,000 km (620 miles) of range. It should also be able to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under two seconds.
