SSC wants to send its Tuatara to the ‘Ring

Jarod Shelby, CEO of SSC North America, said in an interview that he wanted to try and set a new world record at the Nürburgring circuit to prove the capabilities of his Tuatara hypercar.

He added that the Green Hell was a highly challenging racetrack to beat, and that preparing for the winning run would take great effort. He provided no date estimates.

The SSC Tuatara is yet to prove to the world that it is capable of surpassing the 483 km/h (300 miles per hour) mark. During its first full speed run in last October, it showed an alleged acceleration of 508.73 km/h (316.11 mph), but critics pointed out numerous discrepancies in the video footage provided as proof. During the second run held in December, the extreme car fell way short of its promised speed, only hitting 404 km/h (251 miles per hour) before maxing out.

The third and so far last attempt saw it claiming the title of the world’s fastest production vehicle with 455.3 km/h (282.9 mph), dethroning the Koenigsegg Agera RS by roughly 8 km/h (5 mph).
