С8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 spied testing

A spy video revealing the next-gen Chevy Corvette Z06 has cropped up online. Rumor has it that the next Corvette flagship will debut as soon as July 2021.

The coupe still wears a ton of camouflage – even the wheels have covers on them, so telling individual details can be hard. In mid-video, you can just about discern the center exhaust cluster and the rear diffuser. You can also listen to the engine soundtrack, which is markedly different from that of the standard C8.

The car is expected to ship with the 5.5-liter V8 of the C8.R racer fitted with dual overhead camshafts and flat crank. The output will likely come close to 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 814 Nm (600 lb-ft).

Having said that, the Z06 will not stay on the top of the range for long: the ZR1 will come packing an 825-PS (814-hp / 607-kW) engine, and a hybrid spec should eventually arrive with 1,012 PS (1,000 hp / 745 kW) hitting the asphalt.
