Half-doors make a comeback for the Jeep Wrangler

The base Jeep Wrangler comes with removable doors put into metallic frames and fitted with power windows. If you would rather go for something simpler, you can now opt for half-doors.

The options had existed in the Wrangler option list before, but the latest generation only gets it now – three and a half years since debut. These doors lack upper halves and line up nicely with the trunk sides.

Leather straps replace the grips inside, and you can fend off bad weather by zip-locking plastic windows into the frames. The frames themselves are made from acryl or vinyl, like the tent. All power sockets, hinges and mounting hardware are standard.

The option comes from Mopar and is a part of the Dual Door Group set available to order separately through dealerships (you cannot purchase a Wrangler with half-doors straight from the factory). Prices in the United States begin at $2,350 for the two-door SUV and $3,995 for the four-door one.
