Car Tuning

2,666-HP, RWD Dodge Viper is a death wish on wheels

Tuning rear-wheel-drive sports cars is a major challenge and a great responsibility, as even a minor error behind the wheel could end in a disaster. Our wishes of longevity therefore go to the owner of this insanely bloodthirsty Viper.

Calvo Motorsports carried out the job for an ex- Chevrolet Corvette Z06 driver who tuned his ‘Vette and proceeded to race it on the streets for a while. He then lost a race to a Calvo-tuned Viper and couldn’t live it down, so commissioned the tuning shop for a similar but more extreme modification.

The team has bored out the V10 to full nine liters of displacement, added dual 8686 series turbochargers and a dry sump, and let a Motec ECU control all that goodness. As a result, filling the tank with E85 gives the Dodge a mind-blowing 2,666 metrical horsepower (2,630 hp; 1,961 kW) at the rear axle. Between this and 2,691 Nm (1,985 lb-ft) of torque, the Bugatti Chiron may as well go home and never get out again.

Watch the video to witness the Viper accelerating at insane speeds even without switching to the top performance mode.
