Genesis Electrified G80 bows with dual motors, up to 500 km / 310 mi of range

South Korean premium automaker Genesis has unveiled its first production battery car, the Electrified G80, which looks just like the regular G80 on the outside.

Powering the e-sedan are twin motors rated at 185 PS (182 hp / 136 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque each. In Sports mode, the car needs 4.9 seconds to go from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph), making it faster than its ICE counterpart armed with a 3.5-liter V6 TT. A special feature called DAS (Disconnector Actuator System) can turn it from an AWD into a 2WD vehicle when power conservation is required.

Battery capacity isn’t on the spec sheet, but Genesis says the new G80 has 500 kilometers (310 miles) of NEDC-rated range, or just 427 km (265 miles) according to the rating adopted in South Korea. Charging is supported from sources rated up to 350 kW, and going from 10 to 80 percent full only takes 22 minutes. What’s also interesting, the car can power other externally connected devices.

Noteworthy premium features include active noise cancelling, intelligent lighting and roof-mounted solar panels.

The Electrified G80 will originally be available in China, but will later make it to other markets as well. Specific dates remain to be announced.
