Hongqi’s S9 hybrid supercar ready for production
Hongqi has brought the final production version of its S9 superhybrid to the Auto Shanghai 2021. The car looks markedly different from the concept, but the V8-based powertrain remains as promised.
The coupe is said to be able to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 1.9 seconds and ultimately exceed 400 km/h (248 mph). Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 receives assistance from triple electric motors, culminating in around 1,400 PS (1,381 hp / 1,030 kW) hitting the wheels.
Of the most notable features, the rear spoiler can change its geometry to adjust for speed, the brake lights have air vents in them, and the headlights have air intakes built in.
The total production quantity will not exceed 99 units priced at roughly $1,500,000 each.
