Ferrari sells out 812 Superfast Competizione within hours, has to apologize

It took several hours for Ferrari to sell out its entire batch of 812 Competizione vehicles. Enrico Galliera, Senior VP Marketing, said that the demand was so high, the company had to apologize to all the customers who did not get their opportunity to buy their own supercar.

He added that the company simply could not increase the production quantity despite all the pleas. The first shipments will not be made until at least 2022, and building each unit will necessitate great resources.

Analysts believe that it was the limited production run that bolstered the popularity of the 812 Competizione: the company intends to produce a total of 999 such coupes and 599 Targas. Apparently, the exclusivity was enough to persuade buyers to hand over €499,000 for the former and €578,000 for the latter.
