Lotus announces its last ICE-powered sports car

As the automotive world goes through a permanent switch to electric propulsion, more and more classics jump on that bandwagon. Lotus says it will follow suit, too – but not before launching one last ICE car named the Emira.

The sporty coupe, some parts of which you can barely discern on the first teaser pics, will incorporate various features of the Evora, Elise and Exige models. It is only a concept at this stage, but Lotus says it will be investing over £50 million into its production. Neither the most basic nor the most advanced trim will feature any electrification.

The world premiere is scheduled for July 6, 2021. In the meantime, the sports car will make a cameo appearance in Goodwood in a few days.
