Drag Race: 500-HP Genesis G70 vs. 600-HP Nissan Skyline GT-R

The sporty Genesis G70 is quite popular on the sedan market, but rarely crops up in aftermarket and tuning projects for some reason. As this video by Hoonigan proves, it could really use more tuners’ attention.

In the video, the pre-facelift Korean saloon comes equipped with a 3.3-liter V6 TT and goes up against an R33-gen Nissan Skyline GT-R. Both sport a number of upgrades, with the Nissan having a distinct advantage here: its Garrett GT 3884 turbo kit and a plethora of other components enable it to produce north of 600 horsepower (450 kilowatts). Interestingly enough, its owner reconfigured the manual transmission to drive the rear wheels.

In turn, the Genesis makes do with around 500 HP (375 kW), which it sends to all four wheels through an eight-speed auto gearbox.

You might think the GT-R has the obvious advantage here, but watch the video and you’ll se for yourself just how capable the tuned G70 is.
