Citroen DS lives anew as a stick-shift EV

Even two-thirds of a century since launch, the Citroen DS continues to be widely considered one of the ultimate icons of the automotive industry. No wonder Electrogenic felt it needed a modern interpretation.

The British company chose not to modify the exterior too much and just removed the muffler instead. The stock 2.0-liter gasoline engine, however, made room for an electric motor rated at 122 PS (120 hp / 90 kW) and 235 Nm (173 lb-ft) of torque. Interestingly enough, the tuner found a way to reconcile the motor with the standard manual transmission driving the front wheels.

A 48.5-kWh traction battery grants up to 225 kilometers (140 miles) of driving range, and the default charging device supplied can replenish the charge completely in two hours or so.

Other niceties mentioned by Electrogenic include an especially comfortable hydraulic/air suspension combo and an overhauled cabin. Those willing to get their own restomod like this can ask the company for options, such as a larger battery or a more powerful charger.
