Car Tuning

E.C.D. brings another old Defender back to life as a posh restomod

Even in the world of car restoration and modding, rebuilding classic Land Rover Defender models stands apart as a whole sub-genre with a huge fan base. This particular example is called Project Ransom, and it comes from Florida-based Defender guru E.C.D. Automotive Design.

On the outside, the Defender 110 sports a soft top, 16-inch wolf wheels clad in all-terrain rubber, and power steps. The body is subdued green with brown roof and cabin for contrast.

The interior is also largely new and houses custom dash gauges, an Evander steering wheel, heated/ventilated seats, and a roll cage. Equipment on board includes a multimedia system with Apple CarPlay support, USB ports, and even a multi-zone climate control system – a rarity in an open-top vehicle like this one. Natural leather, wood and metal are used for the finish throughout.

Power comes from an LS3 V8 normally rated at 430 PS (424 hp / 316 kW), but boosted here to 565 PS (557 hp / 416 kW).
