2022 Ford Expedition revealed in full

Ford has taken the wraps off its 2022 Evolution model, complete with new trim options and a power upgrade.

The 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 now produces 440 hp (446 PS / 328 kW) and 692 Nm (510 lb-ft) of torque, a sizeable improvement over the former 400 hp (406 PS / 300 kW) and 651 Nm (480 lb-ft). The Timberline spec still dominates the off-road lineup with its meaty 33-inch tires, 270 mm (10.55”) of ride height, and skid plates.

Buyers can opt for a styling package called Stealth Edition, which adds gloss-black wheels with red calipers, a blacked-out radiator grille, roof rails, headlight bezels and new side mirror caps.

A new infotainment display represents the biggest interior highlight. The screen measures 12 inches across in the base spec and grows to a 15.5-inch large vertical display in the top spec. Sync 4A comes to phase out the Sync 3 as the operating system, and the manufacturer claims it is capable of machine learning. Rear seat occupants get their own multimedia unit.

By default, every Expedition now comes with lanekeeping, reversing assist, intersection assist, and a feature that automatically steers your car around a car that suddenly brakes right in front of you (provided the conditions are right for the maneuver, of course).

Prices remain to be announced, and sales will begin in early 2022.
