Honda Civic Type R interior shows up on first spy photos

The camera-wielding crowd has managed to snap a few cabin pics of the still-to-be-launched 2022 Honda Civic Type R. It seems that the car will be trimmed with Alcantara and offer comfortable seats with enhanced lateral support alongside integrated headrests.

The Alcantara can be seen covering the center armrest and the steering wheel rim, which appears thicker than usual. Note also the stereotypical ‘sporty’ bits, such as a metallic gear stick knob, red stitching, and red safety belts.

Other than that, the inside of the hot hatch looks little different from the standard Civic hatchback. The honeycomb mesh on the front panel, the HVAC controls and the infotainment touchscreen (likely 9”) seem to be the same. A 10.2-inch digital dashboard should also be present in all trims.

What remains unclear is the power specifications. In all likelihood, the Civic Type R will borrow a two-liter turbo-four cylinder engine from its predecessor, but with a performance boost. The old one churned out 310 PS (306 hp / 228 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.
