2022 Kia Sportage breaks cover in the North America

Kia has officially revealed the new Sportage for North America, which is 4,660 mm (182 inches) long with 2,755 mm (107.6 inches) of wheelbase. Having more space between the axles will grant rear seat occupants as much as 1,050 mm (41 inches) of legroom.

As far as engines go, your only option is a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. AWD is optional. In Europe, the car is shorter at 4,515 mm (176.3 inches) long, but ships with an assortment of diesel and part-electric drivetrains. Kia says a few hybrids will be available in the United States as well, but provides no specifics at the moment.

Inside, there is a conventional gear lever replacing the rotary knob. Aside from standard trims, the U.S.-spec Sportage will be available in multiple off-road ones. X-Line will get special bumpers, exterior trim, roof rails, and 19-inch wheels.

X-Pro will take advantage of 17-inch wheels wrapped in meaty BF Goodrich tires, terrain drive modes, and heated window washers.

Finally, the range-topping X-Pro Prestige spec will offer ventilated front seats and LED-based projector headlights.
