Video: Richard Hammond invites on a tour of his car sanctuary

DriveTribe has posted a video to YouTube starring ex-Top Gear host and current The Grand Tour participant Richard Hammond in a tour around his new automobile workshop dubbed The Smallest COG.

In the video, Hammoond demonstrated the equipment he intended to use for his future tuning and restoration projects along with some work-in-progress pieces. Among other things, he showed a special table suited for restoring metallic parts, as well as a spraying booth.

According to Hammond, he and his team had to work around the clock for the entire last week to get everything ready for the unofficial launch date of The Smallest COG.

All in all, the workshop has enough equipment and room to work with seven vehicles in parallel. Exhibits on display include a Jenson coupe owned by Hammond himself and a Ford RS200 that he hopes to get up and running for an impending car show in Hampton Court. The restomod is still torn down and unpainted, so whether there is enough time left before the show is a tough question.

The Smallest COG will be a permanent part of a reality show called Workshop, which Hammond hopes to use to popularize restoring automotive classics. He admits that his trade has taken a central part in his life by now and will continue to exist there 24/7, both on TV and behind the scenes. Right now, the Workshop is waiting for a couple of new cars to arrive and provide the basis for new large-scale restoration projects.
