6th-gen Opel Astra Sports Tourer arrives with minimal differences from the hatchback

A few months after revealing the new Astra hatchback, Opel has now premiered its estate counterpart. Read on for all the main details and specs.

The Sports Tourer has the same Visor front fascia and Matrix LED headlights. The main difference is in the wheelbase, which is 60 mm (2.4 inches) longer, and the trunk size. The wagon offers 608 liters (21.5 cubic feet) of trunk space with the seats up and 1,634 liters (57.7 cubic feet) with the seats folded down. Going for a hybrid powertrain reduces the space slightly: to 548 l (19.35 cu.ft.) and 1,574 l (55.58 cu. ft.), respectively.

The interior layout is identical to that of the new Astra hatchback, complete with 10-inch dash and infotainment displays. The equipment list mentions Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, 360-degree view cameras, a Level 2 self-driving system, traffic sign recognition, and more.

At the beginning of the sales, the wagon will be available with a turbocharged three-cylinder engine boosted to 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW) or 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW), and a four-cylinder one rated at 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW). Two hybrid options will be added to the lineup later on, one good for 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW) and the other for 225 PS (222 hp / 165 kW). Both are based on a 1.6-liter engine, a single electric motor, and a 12.4-kWh traction battery.
