Toyota Land Cruiser 70 spawns a birthday edition for South Africa

Toyota will be releasing the Toyota Land Cruiser 70th Anniversary Edition in the South African Republic, offering a mix of premium-priced two- and four-door pickup trucks.

Similar editions are already available in some countries including Australia (see video), but the new one announced for the SAR still has no production quantity associated with it.

What we do know is that these trucks will be the most expensive on their lineup, and will feature different badges, radiator grille and 16-inch wheels. Each will come with a snorkel pipe, a new hood cover with an air scoop, heavy-duty front and rear bumpers, and a redesigned tonneau cover. Buyers will be able to choose from only two available colors: ivory and sandy.

A 4.5-liter diesel V8 under the hood links to a five-speed manual box, a transfer case and two differentials to drive wheels with 205 PS (202 hp / 152 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque.

Toyota has recently facelifted the Land Cruiser 70 in the countries where the new model is not yet present. The first debut was in Australia. However, unlike that one, the SAR version lacks a new steering wheel or leather in the cabin. Instead, it makes do with a 6.1-inch infotainment unit and satellite navigation.

Prices begin from 889,700 Rand. The new Land Cruiser 300 will start at 1,283,200 Rand when it comes to South Africa.
